Canadian Psychiatry Association (CPA) Annual Conference 2011

CPA 2011 in Vancouver had a great turnout from Queen’s. We tied McGill in terms of resident representation in the CPA. McGill and Queen’s were the top two schools with most residents signed up with the CPA in Canada.

Two of our residents won bursary awards to attend the CPA.
  • Dr. David Murray and Dr. Mitra Monir Abbasi both won travel bursary awards to attend the CPA. Congratulations!
  • Dr. Nishardi Wijeratne presented on Olanzapine and diabetes.
  • Dr. Maria Hussain although could not be present in person, presented a poster presentation on, Edema, a rare but serious side effect of quetiapine
  • Dr. Varinder Parmar was the COPE representative for Queen’s University at the CPA.
  • Dr. Barinder Singh represented Queen’s on the members in training (MIT) executive as a member at large. Dr. Barinder Singh currently sits as the MIT member on the Advocacy committee in the CPA.
Great representation from Queen’s residents overall. Great work Queen’s psychiatry!
